Some stages of drawings benefit from criticism, and some don't. Loose sketches and doodles, primary character designs and initial story ideas shouldn't be judged the same way as professional finalized drawings and practice drawings, That would be too early to apply judgment, Just like kids shouldn't be judged when they're still young.
David Lynch made a great definition: That ideas are like fish, and if you wanna get the really good ones, you have to dive deep. If we'd be critical of our ideas before they get a chance to develop, we'd stay in shallow waters. It took me a while to realize this...
